Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What makes you different? We specialize in writing for the web and, more specifically, we develop web content that gets your website found, crawled, indexed and ranked by search engines.
  2. What’s the difference between writing web content vs. print? The main difference between writing web content vs. print is the way people read each medium. People don’t read word-by-word online; they scan. That’s why web content must be both readable and scannable. Visitors want information quickly and great web content gives them just that.
  3. Why outsource web content writing? Many small and medium businesses can’t afford full-time web writers. By outsourcing, you avoid the headaches of (a) additional staff and overhead (b) vacations (c) benefits and (d) bad hair days.
  4. How can you make my website more successful? By generating additional website traffic and leads.
  5. How long will it take for my website to rank #1 for [X] keyword? To answer this question, we must see your website, understand its goals, survey your competition and assess how competitive your keyword terms are. For example, “German board games” may not have many suitors; “reality TV” does. We can’t provide guarantees – no one has control over the search engines’ crawling speed and algorithms. In the end, the best path to positive results is via focused and ongoing SEO efforts.
  6. Can I see examples of your work?Absolutely! Contact us to review samples. Some clients request anonymity and we extend you the same courtesy should you desire it for your project.
  7. How much do you charge? For most projects, we provide you with a free quote. In some cases, we may need to review your project beforehand. Feel free to contact us for more information.
  8. What is the basis for your web-writing fees? We base our prices on those stated by The Professional Writers Association of Canada (PWAC), of which we are members. For professional web content writing, PWAC suggests charging from “$1 to $3 per word or $60 to $100 per hour.” It’s difficult to provide exact rates before knowing a project’s scope, as web writing projects come in many shapes and sizes. On average, expect to pay $295.00 per page for those requiring SEO Copywriting and Keyword research.
  9. How long will it take you to finish? Some web writing assignments can be finished in as little as five to seven business days. Others, depending on the topic, volume, research and level of client co-operation, take longer.
  10. Are your web writers qualified to write about topic [X]?Our web writers are professionals, some having written for the National Post, Globe and Mail, Huffington Post and other notable publications. We have written websites, articles, business blogs and press releases on hundreds of topics, always with a fresh approach. Should we encounter complex topics, we always do our homework. We can e-mail you a brief questionnaire, speak to you by phone or, should you reside in the Greater Toronto Area, set up a face-to-face meeting.
  11. Can I communicate directly with my assigned web writer?Yes! If you ever have questions about your project or order, feel free to address them with your project co-ordinator.
  12. I’ve written something. Can you make it SEO friendly?Yes. We often work with existing web content, making it SEO-friendly. Including a few strategically placed keywords, phrases, headlines and other “web writing elements” can quickly transform your work into something special.
  13. What if I don’t like the finished product? Will you rewrite it?Yes. Editing and rewriting are part of the process, though we usually get it right the first time. It’s important to remember before evaluating the content that web text reads differently than print.
