Ray began his media & digital content marketing career in 2000, selling and consulting on e-commerce sites for Yellow Pages’ clients. Here, he discovered the power of well-written content for websites and its impact on search engine performance. With a passion for helping local small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) leverage digital marketing, he founded Writing Web Words Inc., a professional Copywriting Company in Toronto, in 2008. Writing Web Words is proud to welcome Rob Starr to its Copywriting Firm. Rob is a content writer, journalist, and editor who’s been working with the written word since he first read Harriet the Spy in the 1960s. He spent a year studying journalism at St Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, before moving on to Ryerson and graduating with a degree in 1986.
He worked in the print medium for several papers, including the Pickering Bay News and the Oshawa Times, before trying his hand at being a novelist. The Apple Lady was published in 2006 by Stone Garden Press in California. Creekwater and Sophistry by Degrees, both short story anthologies, followed.
He moved into the online space in 2007 to start work with his own business. For over a decade, he worked remotely as a content manager for Big4.com in New York City and as a copywriter for Small Business Trends. Rob’s portfolio includes business writing for publications, thought leader interviews, ad copy, and optimized long and short-form content.
That toolbox of extensive copywriting skills allows him to fashion words and phrases that connect with target audiences and rank well.
